Trent Ivey opens 2026 with $3,000 Sunshine Nationals victory at Volusia Speedway Park

Trent Ivey made the trek down to the state of Florida to compete in the 604 and 602 Late Model portions of the 2026 DIRTcar Sunshine Nationals at Volusia Speedway Park (De Leon Springs, Fla.) on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday.

With over 100 CRUSA Late Models checked in, Ivey landed just outside the Top-5 in sixth on Thursday before finishing runner-up to Deisel Jones in Friday's preliminary feature. Trent started 11th in the $10,000-to-win finale on Saturday, but unfortunately retired early and finished 28th.

Ivey found more success in the 602 Late Model as he finished third in a prelim race on Thursday and then drove to the prelim win on Friday night ahead of Logan Bradford and Mario Gresham. Trent started fifth in the 20-lap finale on Saturday and took the lead from Hayden Cardwell with just a few laps remaining. Ivey hung on for the win and took home a $3,000 payday.
