Ivey storms to Top-10 finish with Southern Thunder Super Dirt Series at Cherokee
Trent Ivey checked into his home track of Cherokee Speedway (Gaffney, S.C.) on Saturday afternoon for the $10,000 co-sanctioned Grassy Smith Memorial.
Among 30 Southern Thunder/Cherokee Chief entries, Ivey dealt with mechanical troubles in his heat race which relegated him to the tail of the last chance race. Trent charged to a transfer position and started 19th on the grid in the 50-lap feature and stormed towards the front. Ivey ran as high as fourth before he settled for a seventh-place finish.
